Bullberry Bullmastiffs

Devoted to the health, temperament, and heritage of the Bullmastiff breed.

My name is Hanna Palos. I am a veterinarian in Finland. I have been breeding Bullmastiffs since 1990 with an emphasis on breed type, temperament, and soundness. I meet dogs of many breeds in my daily work. However, Bullmastiff is still my favourite breed of all breeds. My ideal Bullmastiff is medium sized, with well balanced conformation, classy yet powerful, intelligent, active, and moves effortlessly with a firm topline. I like to see strong heads, but not overdone; cube on cube, with definite stop, furrow between the eyes, small ears that are not set too low, blunt muzzle that is neither too short nor too long, dark almond-shaped eye. Temperament-wise I want to see self confident, friendly, and curious Bullmastiffs. I do not like sharpness or shyness in a Bullmastiff. To me it seems many Bullmastiffs have a great sense of humour; possibly due to their intelligence. Bullmastiffs make excellent companions and guard dogs. They need some basic obedience training. I enjoy walking in the woods and parks with my Bullmastiffs, and occasionally I attend dog shows. Others do rally obedience, tracking, nose work etc.
